Week 44 brought a rewarding experience as we conducted a specialized training course for MSB (Myndigheten för samhällsskydd och beredskap), empowering EOD personnel with invaluable insights into IED awareness.
The 3-day course incorporated real-world examples, particularly from the current situation in Ukraine, to offer participants a comprehensive view of IED threats. The education spanned over a range of topics, including risk mindset, differentiating IEDD from CMD, and the United Nations Improvised Explosive Device Disposal Standards. The practical excercises, such as ground sign awareness, IED indicators, and operating in darkness, took place in and around buildings, vehichles, and terrain. The objective was to enable the participants to grasp the challenges they might encounter in various situations.

On December 23, 2021, Disarmament Solutions participated in the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC) Technical Working Group Meeting. The meeting was held on the theme “Strengthening Resilience and Sustainability” in mine action. The meeting participants consisted of a mix of official representatives of the countries in the ASEAN region, donors, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations. Fredrik Johnsson, CEO, was invited to present Disarmament Solutions mobile concept for sustainable destruction of ammunition and weapons. The discussion focused on how to make this new technology available in national programs through regional initiatives.
